Buck Owens created his own brand of music living in Bakersfield, California unlike most of the country music singers who lived in Nashville. He had 21 hit songs and established Bakersfield as a country music center. He helped others along the way as he became one the biggest country stars of the 1960's. He co-hosted the television show Hee Haw and was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
